Frog’s Ass Shot or Gin & Tonic with St. Patrick cheer!

If Kermit tried this one, he would have to admit, “it’s easy being green!”

Here’s how it shakes up in bartender lingo:
1 count, Bacardi 151 Rum
1 count, Bacardi Light Rum
1 count, Malibu Rum
1 count, Jamaican or Caribbean Coconut Rum
A splash of Midori – green melon liqueur

Shake it all up with some ice, strain into a rocks glass, and it’s bottoms up. The taste is tropical, slightly sweet and smooth enough to slide a frog on its a-double-s!

Or take a traditional Gin and Tonic, splash in just enough Midori to tint it green…and bottoms up! Of course, you could use a few drops of green food coloring as they do for the beer, but then you wouldn’t have that lovely melon flavor.

More than satisfied with Satisfied

I almost missed out on going to Satisfied.  And that would have been a bad mistake on my part.  People had told me that it was a combination restaurant and sports bar. Since I am not a sports fan (unless the sport is horse  racing) my experience, sports bars has been very limited and a few times I visited one, the food was definitely not top drawer. But I was nearby when the companion who suggested we try the place and when he told me it was owned by the folks at created Sweet Potatoes and Cafe Toucon, I happily agreed.
I ordered the Portobello mushroom available in their vegetable section. A large clump portobello came to my table graced with chevre cheese, red onion marmalade and a balsamic drizzle over wilted greens. The meaty flavor of the mushroom enhanced by the piquant red onion and balsamic over the green and made for a truly succulent and delicious dish. My companion ordered the Cuban sandwich, also a favorite of  mine. The Cuban roll was still with slices of savory roast pork am still pickle Swiss cheese and mustard with a side dish black bean salad.  The sandwich was as close as you can calm to the original home fashioned in Tampa, Florida. To say we were satisfied with Satisfied is an understatement. I will return again and very soon.

Joe’s Crab Shack Now Open on River Street

Since I am highly prejudiced in favor of locally owned business, it is with mixed feelings that I even post this. However, this place has some good things going for it. The fact that I’m told it has lobster on the menu is a big plus, since there is a definite dearth of lobster in Savannah. Oh, how I wish Savannah had one of those wonderful lobster houses like you find in cities from New York to Los Angeles, where they fly the luscious critters in live, daily. Well, maybe someday….  The other t hing that Savannah has always lacked is waterfront dining.  Joe’s Crab Shack is right on the water’s edge!  I haven’t tried it yet, but will do so in the near future. I’ll look forward to readers’ input on that!  Perusing their on-line menu, it certainly strikes me that this place is trying to hard to please everyone, with such items as club sandwiches and cheeseburgers.  But they certainly have a fine selection of various types of crab!      So let me know your thoughts, folks!
