Seed Till Fork Wednesday, Nov. 14!

If you love good food and you’re a champion of sustainability, this Local 11 Ten event will be an evening to remember!  First, at 5 pm, there will be a presentation of Seed, Till, Fork by Kelly Vormelker, Scad student and food/wine employee of Local 11 Ten.  Vormelker will soon graduate SCAD with an M.S. in Design for Sustainability. Then, at 7 pm, will come a six course dinner to excite the palette of even the most jaded foodie. Beginning with Oysters on the Half Shell, continuing through the six courses including Skin on Snapper, Cinnamon-Coffee Bison Hangar Steak, and others, each with its own delightful accoutrements. The final act is a White Chocolate Pot de Crème. All are paired with the best wines for the individual dish. $85/person.

Opening champagne reception at Local 11 Ten

Monday, November 5th from 5-6:30pm at Local 11 Ten, 1110 Bull St. Opening  reception for Ikeda Feingold.  These monthly receptions are always lovely and this one looks quite spectacular. Meet the artist and visit with friends.  Show runs November 5th – 30th. Free and open to the public. Complementary champagne and hors d’oeuvres.

New Restaurant by the creators of Local 11 Ten

No question about it, Local 11 Ten is among the finest restaurants in a city of fine eateries!  So it seemed reasonable to assume that their new place, Public Kitchen & Bar, at the corner of Liberty & Bull St.,  would be exceptionally good as well.  More casual, more affordable, but surely great! Well, so far, at least, it seems to disappoint. Right off, they don’t have a menu posted anywhere, not on-line where they have a Facebook page, nor anywhere else. We have a copy of their daytime menu….called to try and find out what was on the evening menu and were told “some steaks, a pasta dish and a fresh fish dish.”  They do have a nice array of salads and sandwiche…. tried the Spinach salad, made as it should be with bacon dressing–really good! And sampled the crab cake–okay, but nothing to write home about. An interesting lineup of burgers….unfortunately, they say they cook them all medium-well. Which, to me at least, simply screams “overcooked and dry.” Did not try.  Well, it’s been less than a month since they opened, they’re in a perfect location, they should do well no matter what. Hopefully, a lot of kinks will be straightened out…. I’ll be back to see!

Great artist reception at Local 11 Ten

This Monday, May 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, the works of one of our favorite Savannah artists, Morgan Santander, will be featured at Local 11 Ten. Don’t miss this one!  Santander is a brilliant and fascinating artist!   As usual, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served.  Enjoy!

Perch now open 7 days a week!

For those already familiar with this charming outdoor cocktail spot, high up in the tree tops over Local 11 Ten, it’s nice to know it’s now open every day of the week, from 6 to 10 pm.  If you’ve never paid this serene spot a visit, do try it. You’ll no doubt return again and again.

Artist Reception at Local 11 Ten

April’s artist at Local 11 Ten is Thomas Wharton.  The show will be curated by Casey Roland Belogorska and styled by Arthur Bennett Kouwenhoven, Jr.  Reception will be held April 9th from 5-7pm and is free and open to the public.  The show will be on display until April 31st.

Stop by Local 11 Ten from 5-7pm tonight to meet local artist Suzanne Jackson.  Her work is heavily influenced by the Low Country and is in permanent collections across the U.S.  A great opportunity to see some wonderful art and enjoy some tasty bites from Local 11 Ten.

Exciting Reception at Local 11 Ten this evening

This evening, Monday, Jan. 9, 5 to 7 pm, recent works by noted Savannah artist, Katherine Sandoz, will be exhibited at Local 11 Ten, 1110 Bull St.   Additionally, the evening will kick off Savannah’s citywide mural project, known as SeeSAW (Savannah Art Walls). As always, complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be available.

Local 11 Ten Artist of the Month Jan Clayton Pagratis

Here’s a last minute tidbit for those of you looking to take in some art on your Monday night.  Local 11 Ten is having an opening reception for artist Jan Clayton Pagratis from 5-7pm.  It’s free and open to the public and they’ll be serving complimentary wine and appetizers to those who attend.

Sheri Castle at Local 11 Ten

Local 11 Ten will be hosting cooking instructor and New York Times featured author, Sheri Castle on Wednesday, October, 12th at 6:45pm.  A three course meal will be served featuring cauliflower, apple and blue cheese soup, choice of seared scallops with lime sauce and stirred corn or bacon and herb crusted pork loin with fig and red wine sauce served with potato mushroom gratin and skillet carrots with bright spices, followed by fresh apple cake with caramel glaze for the third course.  $42 per person, purchase her book for an additional $30.  Book your reservation now by calling 912-790-9000.
