Is Your Sauce Worth A Million Bucks?

If so, have a try at Dave’s Gourmet Recipe Challenge. You could win up to a $1 million in royalties.  Send your sauce, salsa, dip or spread to Dave’s Gourmet early enough that it arrives by Dec. 31, 2011, and you could win!

Rules:  You must warrant that this is your recipe and yours alone.

             Recipes will be judged in five categories:  taste, appearance, creativity, consumer appeal and the recipe’s ability to be mass-produced (that is, if one of the ingredients is hand-cut bay leaves from a tree that grows only in the southernmost tip of Italy, it probably would be too difficult to manufacture.

              The sauce will be produced for Dave’s Gourmet’s retailers and may have the winner’s name right on the label.

               Winner will receive royalties for 6 years, up to $1 million. 

            All chefs, amateur or professional, are free to enter.

Casting for the Stars Finale

Venture down to the American Legion on Tybee tomorrow from 7-11pm for the Casting for the Stars Finale.  Tickets are $25.  Enjoy live music with the Georgia Kyle Band, hors d’oeuvres by Marlin Monroe’s and of course see the winners announced!  Proceeds benefit the Tybee Post Theater.  The theme is 1940’s USO, and all are encouraged to dress up.  Call Amy at 912-786-5853 for more information.

Miley and Mullets Party

The Casting for Stars Kickoff Party to benefit the Tybee Post Theater will be held on October 3, 3pm, Marlin Monroe’s on Tybee.  Dress up like Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus for a chance to win some great prizes, enjoy the live music of Liquid Ginger, and a Baja Taco Bar!  $20 donation.  Super Star contestants will be announced at 4:30pm and costume winners at 5:30.

Melting Pot Contest

Wanna Win this Year’s Picnic in Forysth Park?

We’ve got a few tips to help the foodie in you, put on your best display! 

1.  Stick to the Johnny Mercer theme. 

2.  Creativity doesn’t have to cost a ton of money.  You might be surprised at the items you have at home that could help with decor.

3.  Be considerate of other picnic set ups.  Large tents should not block other picnics. 

4.  Grills are not allowed in Forsyth Park.

5.  Talk to the judges when they come by.

6.  For family entries, be sure your setup includes something from everyone, even the little ones.

Recession Recipe Challenge Winner

Michele Shuman of Springfield, GA has won WTOC’s Recession Recipe Challenge.  She along with two friends will be treated to a lunch at Chef Matt Cohen’s New South Pub at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum.  Recipes submitted for the challenge involved buying in bulk and creating multiple recipes from the same ingredients. Look for Chef Matt on Tuesday’s show, as he’ll be sharing tips for eating well and saving bucks.
